Video Treatment

One of the most neglected tools in the videoprapher's tool kit is usually the video treatment, a document that defines the concept, summarizes the story and determines the creative approach of your video. A well-written video treatment takes the light bulb and glowing over your head and makes it visible to others. It's an import tool that will help you plan and convey your project.

Research: The first step is to gather some basic information.
What is your subject:

What is the theme of your project:

What is the purpose of your video:

What is your target audience:

Approach: Think of different cinematography approaches you could use to reach your audience in a powerful way.

How will you tell your story:

What do we see? Don’t just describe the images, describe the underlying emotions. ex : in a montage of shots, we see several street people. Footage is black and white, restless, disturbing.

What images will you use:

What type of camera shots will you use:

What cinematographic techniques will you use:

What do we hear? Describe the narrator’s voice? Don’t just say “voice over.” Describe the narrator’s voice – authoritative, giddy, husky etc…

Who will will hear :

Background music:
